The first release candidate for WordPress 5.6 was recently released. You can see the announcement here. WordPress 5.6 is slated for release on December 8, 2020. Here at Outcome Labs, we are currently testing it on the staging versions of our own sites and our client sites to identify any issues.

Ok, so not the most stellar performance by the Wordpress core team this past week. First a short cycle security release introduces a new issue and then the auto-update system pushes an "alpha" update to live sites including ones without auto-updates enabled.
