The stated objective of this release is to start to wrap-up” the work on the second phase of the Gutenberg project. Just as a reminder the four phases are:

  1. Easier Editing — Already available in WordPress, with ongoing improvements
  2. Customization — Full Site editing, Block Patterns, Block Directory, Block based themes
  3. Collaboration — A more intuitive way to co-author content
  4. Multi-lingual — Core implementation for Multi-lingual sites

The specific items that will be included in WordPress 6.2 are still in flux. You can see the list of tickets tagged 6.2 on Trac. This schedule includes four Beta releases to fit around the WordCamp Asia schedule. Based on this schedule, WordPress 6.2 will include ten Gutenberg releases. If you want to contribute to the release, you can get more information here.

As always, the Outcome Labs team will be testing the new features of this release during the late Beta cycles. We will verify the release with our own sites and any client sites that are covered by an Outcome Labs WordPress Care. We will also be building video tutorials to share with you after the release is applied to your site. Please contact our support team if you have any questions.
