
The Wordpress Core Team published the monthly highlights of what was released and other community news. November was all about the Wordpress 5.6 Beta and RC releases prepping for the December release.

The team at Creative Themes launched Blocksy Pro today. The Blocksy theme is a solid lighting fast theme with a rich set of customization capabilities. We have been using it for several months here at Outcome Labs and it has become our go to solution for most new projects.

The Wordpress Core Development team has published the Wordpress 5.6 Field Guide. This is a good document to review as you prepare for the release of Wordpress 5.6 in December.

We have recommended adding the Gutenburg Changelog to your listening list before. This week's show covers the upcoming Gutenberg Times Live Q & A, Full Site Editing, Gutenberg 9.4, and the Customizer. Worth a listen.

The first release candidate for WordPress 5.6 was recently released. You can see the announcement here. WordPress 5.6 is slated for release on December 8, 2020. Here at Outcome Labs, we are currently testing it on the staging versions of our own sites and our client sites to identify any issues.

Because developing blocks requires using a different tools, there have been several initiatives introduced to simplify this. Justin Tadlock just did a review of one of the latest offerings, Genesis Custom Blocks.

One of the areas we are very focused on here at Outcome Labs is maintaining a reliable, repeatable workflow. One area we are focused on is what we will use to provide page-level layouts with the Wordpress Block Editor.

Recent discussion kicked off about adding a Block Patterns directory. Another piece of the puzzle for the evolving Wordpress ecosystem.

On October 23, 2020, The Wordfence Threat Intelligence team disclosed several vulnerabilities in Ultimate Member, a WordPress plugin installed on over 100,000 sites. The issue has been addressed and we recommend updating immediately.
